Spend Two days working with Ray Bidegain to learn the wonderful process of platinum printing. Hand made platinum prints are beautiful and highly regarded art objects with a long history.  Starting with a sheet of 100% cotton paper we will hand coat the paper with an emulsion of light sensitive platinum/palladium metals. Negatives are printed in contact with the coated sheet and tray developed.  The resulting prints are a joy to make and absolutely beautiful.  Because it is a contact process we will be working with either large format negatives, or enlarged digital negatives from files or scans. During the class we will cover:

  • Paper selection
  • Hand coating techniques
  • Creation of digital negatives
  • Darkroom technique for tailoring your camera negatives for the process.
  •  Exposure and development of prints
  • Equipment needs for a home darkroom
  • Final presentation and display
  •
